Razi Hospital is located in a neighborhood called Vahdat Islamic Square (former Shahpur) and is considered one of the oldest medical and educational centers of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. At the end of 1312 AH, with the increase in the population of Tehran and the need for more medical services, Mr. Dr. Adham (Alam al-Mulk) was appointed by Reza Khan to establish a hospital for this purpose. Mr. Dr. Adham rents the first building of Razi Hospital (located in the southeast of Shahpur Square) from the late Mirza Abbas Khan Qavam-ud-Dawlah, but because this building did not have a direct way to the main street of Shahpur and the government could not, without legal formalities, In this case, Benmayd buys the adjacent building that belonged to the late Siraj al-Dawlah Behzadi and adds it to the hospital, and the hospital practically starts operating as a general hospital.

Razi Hospital treated the needy patients in the mentioned buildings until 1315, until that year, Mohtsham Al-Sultaneh Esfandiari Garden (the current building of Razi Hospital) was purchased, and in the same year, the hospital moved to a new location, and with appropriate building repairs and modifications, It was ready to operate for clinics and internal and surgical departments.

In 1319, Razi Hospital was handed over to the Faculty of Medicine of Tehran University according to the Law on the Establishment of Medical Schools, and the Departments of Pediatrics, Radiology, Poisoning, Dermatology, and Infectious Diseases were opened and established in this hospital, and after that, the buildings of A new one was built for the dermatology, autopsy and kitchen departments.

Before the above law, Razi Hospital was also used by the medical school, and some medical students were always introduced to this hospital for clinical training, and every week scientific and educational conferences were held by Dr. Adham (the first head of Razi Hospital) and Other treatments inside and outside the hospital were held for medical students. Conducting useful research and studies on various diseases, especially in the field of Maltese fever, leprosy and rabies, has been one of the other benefits of this center.

With the passage of time, changes were made in the organization of departments and clinics of the hospital and some departments and clinics were transferred to other hospitals of the faculty. In 1344, the organization of Razi Hospital included 2 internal departments, dermatology department, surgery department, clinical laboratory units, radiology and subsidiary clinics.

In 1348, the polyclinic of Razi Hospital was opened with a capacity of 500 patients per day and with gynecology, internal, infectious, surgical, ophthalmology, dental and dermatology clinics, and the hospital actually became a large polyclinic. At the same time, Iran's blood transfusion center was also operating in Razi Hospital (before moving this center to Vila Street). After the polyclinic was built, all medical departments were transferred to other hospitals of Tehran University, and the dermatology department remained in Razi Hospital.

In 2018, due to the brilliant scientific educational history of Razi Hospital and the training of elite doctors and specialists at the national level, and the achievement of the majority of distinguished ranks in the national examinations, the specialized board and the special privileges of Razi Hospital, this center was recognized as the only national hub of dermatology by the Ministry Health, treatment and medical education were recognized.

About 20 years ago, the age and wear and tear of the buildings, the lack of resistance of the buildings to earthquakes, severe financial problems, etc. made the university officials think of closing the hospital and moving the skin department to another place, but each time because of the identity The scientific history of the hospital abandoned this work.

Gradually, a number of philanthropists gathered with the motivation to serve the hospital and the people and prepared the preparations for the construction of a new hospital with an infrastructure equivalent to 12,000 square meters (in the current location of Razi Hospital). The project of building a new hospital in the current space was started in 2008, but its construction was delayed due to various reasons, and due to the lack of funds and very little progress, it was partially closed for a while. From 2014, through the participation of Khatam Al-Anbia camp, the construction of the new Razi hospital project was started again, and with the tireless follow-up of the officials of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, the new hospital building was completed in Shahrivar 2019, in It has 6 floors and a capacity of 176 beds.
